Our body is naturally very effective at healing itself. Supporting this process with a healthy and hygienic lifestyle—such as regular showers, clean hair, fresh clothes and bedding, a balanced diet, limited alcohol and drug use, and staying well-hydrated—will help promote faster healing.
It's essential to keep the area completely free from makeup, fake tan, body sprays, lotions, skincare products, and other chemicals.
Avoid touching the piercing with unwashed hands or playing with the jewellery. The less movement and exposure to foreign substances, the better the healing outcome.
Saline solution and proper aftercare help keep the piercing site clean, allowing your body to heal as effectively as possible.
Professional piercers recommend saline because it gently removes bacteria and debris without irritating the wound. In contrast, harsh products like antiseptic sprays, tea tree oil, or hydrogen peroxide can damage the tissue, dry out the area, and may even be harmful if absorbed into the bloodstream.
To maintain cleanliness and minimize bacteria, it’s best to use sterile products—such as individually packaged sterile non-woven gauze and sterile wound wash (Neilmed saline).
Avoid items like Q-tips, tissues, or cotton balls, as they can leave behind fibers and introduce unnecessary irritation.
